Published by Elytis in Bordeaux, this 300-page book places a strong emphasis on imagery, thanks to the exceptional photographic collection that Michel Lecat inherited from his maternal grandfather, Robert Bondier, who documented life in Bergerac for half a century. The book also features very rare photographs from the family albums of families of former Indochinese workers.
As for the text, it is the result of a work of examining some 10,000 pages of archives that I collected at the Departmental Archives of Dordogne, at the National Archives of France Overseas in Aix-en-Provence (ANOM), and at the Diplomatic Archives in La Courneuve. The ANOM archives have long been considered lost. This book is the first to use them.
The book was published on January 23, 2026, by Elytis in Bordeaux. It can be purchased directly from the publisher or at any bookstore (preferably an independent one).
The release of my book was accompanied by numerous lectures I gave in the Dordogne (Périgueux, Bergerac, Eymet, Pays-de-Belves, Ribérac, Montpon-Ménestérol, Creysse, Mussidan), as well as throughout France: Marseille, Montpellier, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Paris, Nîmes, Avignon, Grenoble, etc.

In addition, my French publisher has signed a contract with Kim Dong Publishing in Hanoi for the translation and distribution of my book in Vietnam. The book is currently being translated and is expected to be released in 2027.
